Hybrid Surface Model in Reverse Engineering – How to deal with? 3Dshop.com.vn
Hybrid Surface models have various applications, from Engineering, MRO (Maintenance – Repair – Overhaul), Calibration and part inspection.
Introduction to Hybrid Surface Model
There are two main methods of modelling of objects: Solid modelling and Surface modelling. While Surface modelling only focuses on the geometric description of the object’s boundaries, solid modelling also describe topological information and identify all surface points, represent all solid parts of the object.
Hybrid Surface modelling takes away the requirement for users to distinguish between solid and surface modelling, making the 3D modelling process much more user-friendly. In simple terms, hybrid surface modeling simply means working with both solid and surfaces.
Characteristics
- Precise recording the current state of model’s object
- Manufacturing defects included
- Small surfaces patchwork
- Surface finish
Hybrid Surface Modeling process
- Sketch out 2D elements of the model
- Create surface perpendicular for the sides of the sketch
- Create end cap surfaces
- Make sure there are no gaps or overlaps
- Adjust faces so they face outside of the solid model
