Parametric Model in Reverse Engineering – How to deal with? 3Dshop.com.vn
3DShop provides Reverse Engineering services for Parametric models.
Definition
“Parametric models” are defined as a 3D model that can change its shape and model geometry as soon as its parameters – dimensional values – are changed.
Parametric modelling process in Reverse Engineering
Parametric models are constructed using mathematical equations. For these models to be legitimate, they need to be designed based on real-life objects. There are two methods for Parametric models:
Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG)
CSG defines a model by combining basic and generated solid shapes. CSG uses Boolean operations to construct a model. (Design Tech, 2018).
Boundary Representation (BR)
In BR, a solid model is formed by defining the surfaces that form its partial boundaries (points, edges, etc.). The object is constructed by joining these partial points. (Design Tech, 2018)
Advantages of Parametric Modelling
- Flexible design
- Vast range of ways to view the model
- Better product visualization
- Better integration with downstream applications
- Can reuse existing design data to create new designs
- Quick design turnaround, increasing efficiency
